2017 Course Outline & Descriptions

T & T Horsemanship is dedicated to the belief that the development of true horsemanship requires dedication of time and understanding to fully comprehend what the horse has to offer humans.  That horsemanship is an art form, and should not be limited to specific disciplines, but rather the development of a willing partnership between the horse and it’s human.  Then, the possibilities are endless!

About Alice...

Biography: Alice Trindle was born on a ranch in eastern Oregon, the only daughter in a family of five brothers. She learned to ride behind the back of the saddle holding on to her brother’s belt loops. In the past 15 years Alice has continued her relationship with horses, and had the opportunity to study with several true horsemen such as Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, Dennis Reis, and Bettina Drummond. She conducts clinics in Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho, and offers multi-day horsemanship retreats at her ranch in eastern Oregon.

Alice’s students relay that her presentation is informative, always based on developing a deeper relationship with your horse, and most importantly FUN! Working on the basics of positive attitude, balanced movement, combined with feeling for the horse, Alice leads aspiring horseman to a true partnership opportunity.

What makes Alice Trindle unique? Alice has a gift of communicating to both humans and their horses. As she often relays, she is not a "horseman"…rather an "aspiring horseaman". In her own pursuit to understand horses and develop her relationships, she has developed a variety of ways of explaining how, when, why, and where to develop a "feel" for and with the horse. Alice’s approach puts the posture and attitude of the human as key components in developing this relationship, and she works diligently to assist the rider in visualizing and feeling how his posture aids the movement of the horse.

A second attribute to Ms. Trindle’s approach, is that she combines her understandings of "work-in-hand" classical dressage principles, and the traditions of the Doma Vaquero. Through this process, students are gaining a greater understanding of the balance of movement required for their horse, and the horses’ are developing true self-carriage, with lightness

4 Days Colt to Horsemanship Development Course

The past several years we have offered an opportunity that to my knowledge no other clinician is offering to truly bring a young horse along. We learned many lessons thanks to the horses and people who attended the past several years, and are ready to enact an even greater program.  Here’s how it will work: You bring two horses - One that is ready to start, along with your old reliable horse.  (If you do not have a schooling horse, we have some available.  We also have access to some fine Quarterhorses that are ready to be started and are for sale.)  For the next 4 days the morning sessions will focus on the young horses, with Alice doing a lot of the work in the round pen the first few days, and then each student bringing their young horse along with Alice's insightful assistance in the final days of the Course.  Alice's apprentices are available to make the first few rides if you so desire.   In the afternoons, participants will work with their personal riding horse, practicing the skills needed to bring the colts along, and developing the feel, timing, balance, and understanding to further your depth of knowledge.

Skills Acquired Include:

  • A deeper understanding of the attitudes and movements of the horse and how to influence both to develop a willing partner

  • A picture of the many uses of the round pen, the lariat, drive lines, positioning, postures, balance, timing, feel

  • An opportunity to see & participate in the development of a colt, while practicing these skills on your own, advancing horse

Prerequisite: Riders will be personally screened by Alice, and must have ridden with her or someone she respects.  Potential participants will be asked to furnish a video tape of themselves showing their basic horse-handling skills, such as catching their horse, basic groundwork, and riding a walk, trot, and canter.

Can you imagine where we will go with these colts, your horse, and YOU in 6 to 9 days?

Registration is limited & must be received one-month prior.  Horse and Human boarding are available.  (With the new BUNKHOUSE, human boarding is right here on the ranch, and LOTS of FUN!)

Cost is $600 for the Course.  Give us a call for Horse/Human Boarding fees.

  3 Day Day Cows & Mountain...Rhythm & Balance Retreats

This Retreats are designed to assist participants in first understanding how the eyes influence the feet, the feet direct the body, add in timing, balance, feel, and flow, to achieve willing partnership. Now that the horse has it, how 'bout working on the human?  We will spend our mornings working on posture and equitation in the round pen, with some bridleless riding!  Then move on in the afternoon's to applying these skills on cow work, transitions in BIG open hay fields, and in the mountain.  For the horse's posture to be in balance...The human's posture must also be in balance, with focus, timing, rhythm, and feel.   Prerequisite: Horses must be under saddle, and rider must be able to walk, trot, & canter comfortably.          Cost for 3 Day is 400.00, plus horse/human boarding.

All Women's Cows, Mountains, and FUN!
